Amorim wants to have “pressure to win” and ‘ignores’ Rashford

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim previewed the Red Devils ‘ clash with Southampton on Thursday. The manager said that the team will have to face the opponent in the same way they faced Liverpool and Arsenal, but that in this match, United will “have the pressure to win”, unlike what happened in the last two duels. Regarding Rashford, Amorim… said nothing.

“I’m always worried because in games like these we haven’t had the consistency we should have,” said Ruben Amorim, who stated that the team must “approach this game as if it were against Liverpool and Arsenal ” : “Nothing more, nothing less.” “We want to have the pressure to win. With Arsenal and Liverpool , no one expected us to win. We need that pressure to be able to improve,” added the coach. “This game will tell me more about my players than the last two, because no one expected anything from us in those games. Now, they’re expecting us to win.”

“Of course there is pressure, but at the moment I don’t feel it, because we haven’t won the league in recent years. I don’t feel the pressure of having to win the following year if we don’t win this year,” continued the coach, who maintained the same motto as in recent times: “Right now, we have to win games.” The aspects that need improving are also clearly defined by Amorim. “We need to improve with the ball. Against Arsenal , we waited for the game and, in the future, we can’t play like that. But we need time for that,” stressed the Portuguese, who, despite this, is only concerned with the result: “The most important thing is to fight and win the game.”

Asked about a possible resolution to the case involving Rashford , who has not played for over a month, Amorim had just one objective: “I want to win. That’s all I think about.”
