Ancelotti: “In the first half we didn’t play football”
Real Madrid trailed Barcelona 1-4 at half-time in the Super Cup final
Real Madrid lost 2-5 to Barcelona in the Super Cup final. After the game, Carlo Ancelotti admitted it was a “bad night”.
“We are sad, as are all our fans. It’s a disappointment, we shouldn’t hide it, but this is football, sometimes you are capable of winning and other times you have to learn from defeat. We have to look forward”, he began by saying, at a press conference.
The Italian coach also argued that the Merengues “didn’t play football” in the first half.
«We defended poorly, that hurt us in the game, they scored goals simply and we didn’t defend well with high pressure or low blocking. I said that first we had to try to play football, because in the first half we didn’t play football. We hit long balls, but that wasn’t the idea. The idea was to play. I told him that games can be lost, but not the way we played in the first half”, he explained.
