Arteta confirms move to the market for a forward: “We will try”

With injuries to Bukayo Saka , Ethan Nwaneri and now Gabriel Jesus , Arsenal have few attacking options and, therefore, Mikel Arteta confirmed that the club will go to the transfer market, in January, in search of a striker.

The Brazilian forward suffered a very serious injury and will probably be out until the end of the season, with the Englishman also only expected to return in March or April. “Yes, for sure, because we lost two great players. Bukayo, who could be out for up to three months, and Gabriel, who will be out for a long, long, long time. We will try [in this window], for sure. We are actively looking. We will try. We will see what we can achieve”, he explained, after the final whistle of the victory over Tottenham (2-1), at the Emirates.

Kai Havertz started in central attack, but was very uninspired, as was Sterling , and it was Trossard who scored the winner. The fourth and final option for the attacking trio was Gabriel Martinelli , who came on in the second half replacing the Englishman. Tierney , left-back, also replaced the Belgian, moved up on the left wing, which proved the need.

Regarding the game, the Spanish coach was very pleased. «Today was an extraordinary day. From the first minute we really played, with a lot of intensity. We play with a real goal of hurting them. We create an unbelievable environment. We know how important the game is. It’s a gift we can give to the fans”, he said, at a time when his team returned to second place in the Premier League and is four points behind the leader, Liverpool , who have a game in hand.

“When we have opportunities [to reduce the gap], we have to take them. We are having a very consistent campaign in the Premier League . It is a question of recovery, tomorrow, and Aston Villa on Saturday, we will always move forward,” he said, focusing on the next game.
