Atlético Madrid beats Elche and is in the quarter-finals of the Copa Del Rey
Colchoneros beat team from the Spanish second division, 4-0
After Barcelona ‘s thrashing of Betis (5-1), Atlético Madrid did not want to be left behind and also scored a thrashing in the Copa del Rey. Against Elche, who play in the second division, the Colchoneros won 4-0.
Alexander Sorloth came on inspired and scored the first goal after just eight minutes, following a cross from Marcos Llorente .
The Norwegian didn’t stop there and, in the 29th minute, scored again. This time, from the penalty spot, the striker doubled the advantage for the team from the Spanish capital.
The game was easy for Atlético and it got even easier in the 50th minute, after Nicolás Mercau saw his second yellow card and the corresponding red.
The moment of the night came just after the hour mark, with Rodrigo Riquelme scoring a stunning goal from outside the box, leaving the Elche goalkeeper with no chance.
The final result was sealed in the 75th minute, through Julián Álvarez , who had only been on the pitch for two minutes, before scoring the fourth goal for the Colchoneros.
15th consecutive victory for Atlético Madrid , who, since October 27th, have only known the taste of triumph.
