Barcelona renews with Gavi and keeps scary clause
Barcelona aims to “tie” its young talents to the club, as in addition to Pedri, Gavi has also extended his contract
Gavi has renewed his contract with Barcelona . The 20-year-old midfielder previously had a deal that would keep him at Barcelona until 2026, but he has agreed to extend it for another four years. Gavi’s renewal, however, is not the big surprise; what is more, it could be said, is the maintenance of a release clause that scares off potential clubs interested in signing him: it is worth one billion euros.
Gavi ‘s new contract comes a day after his teammate Pedri signed a new contract with Barcelona. The club continues with a strategy of holding on to the club’s main assets. About Gavi, the club wrote:
«The Andalusian player spent half of his life at Barcelona . It was a decade ago, in 2015, that he left Real Betis to join La Masia, having grown as a Blaugrana both personally and as a footballer. His first-team debut came on August 29, 2021, shortly after turning 17, and it was clear from day one that nothing would faze him. Gavi has character and drive in abundance, which he combines with excellent technique, defensive awareness and goalscoring ability, as evidenced by his nine goals to date.’
Gavi, after his serious knee injury that kept him out for almost a year, came back with a vengeance, regaining his lost form.
