Bayern Munich thrashes Hoffenheim and increases its lead at the top of the Bundesliga

Bayern, symbolic champions of the first round of the 2024/25 German Championship, ended the first half of the competition with a 5-0 victory over Hoffenheim, this Wednesday (15). Sané, twice, Raphael Guerreiro, Harry Kane, from a penalty, and Gnabry scored in Munich, in the 17th round of the Bundesliga.

Bayern already entered the field as symbolic champions of the first half of the Bundesliga, but needed a home win to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the competition. This is because Leverkusen beat Mainz last Tuesday (14), also in this 17th round, and had reduced the gap to the Bavarians. In this way, Bayern reached 42 points, against 38 for second-placed Leverkusen.

Another achievement for the Munich club this Wednesday was Harry Kane. This is because the number 9 reached 16 goals and became the sole top scorer in the Bundesliga, now with one more than Omar Marmoush, from Eintracht Frankfurt. In addition, the striker scored 18 goals from penalties in 18 shots with the Bayern jersey.

On the other hand, Hoffenheim is still in crisis and is going through a difficult time. This is because the team has gone nine consecutive games without a win this season, in all competitions. With this result, the team maintained its 14 points and dropped to 16th place, being overtaken by Heidenheim. Thus, Hoffenheim is in the position that takes the team to the relegation playoff of the German Championship.

Bayern Munich vs Hoffenheim

Bayern dominated the match from the start and were on the verge of victory in the first half. Sané opened the scoring after a loose ball in the box, finishing well after just six minutes. In the 12th minute, it was Raphael Guerreiro’s turn to repeat the feat and extend the lead after an assist from Harry Kane. There was still time for the top scorer to score in the 26th minute, with a penalty kick.

After the break, Bayern continued to press forward and maintained control of the game. In the second minute, Sané took advantage of a cross from the left and appeared behind the opposing defense to turn the victory into a rout. On the other hand, Hoffenheim tried to change their approach, but ended up losing even more. Finally, Gnabry came off the bench and scored Bayern’s fifth goal of the game.
