John Obi Mikel says lack of a finisher is hurting Blues’ season
Viktor Gyokeres is still on everyone’s lips and there is no one who would not like to count on the Sporting striker . With a presence all over Europe, this time it was a former Chelsea star who asked for the Swedish forward to be signed by the Stamford Bridge club.
John Obi Mikel, on The Obi One podcast, considered that the lack of a finisher is hampering the Blues’ season, while also criticising Nicolas Jackson and asking Gyokeres : «He [ Jackson ] is not a striker who can take us to the top four or win us the Premier League title . He is not that striker. I don’t think he can lead us to win trophies. For me, he is a player who can link up, he is good on the ball, but he doesn’t score enough goals.»
“We are not being effective enough, he is not scoring enough goals. He gets himself into the right positions but he is not finishing, he is not scoring enough,” said the former Nigeria international, who added: “If we had Victor Osimhen or Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres , believe me, we would still be competing in the Premier League .”
Jackson has scored nine goals in 20 games, while Viktor Gyokeres has scored 31 goals in 29 matches for Sporting .
