Cherki welcomes Paulo Fonseca: “He is a great coach”
The 21-year-old Lyon player thanked Pierre Sage for his work, but also had plenty of praise for his Portuguese successor
After Lyon ‘s 1–1 home draw against already eliminated Ludogorets , which gave them sixth place and direct qualification for the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League , Rayan Cherki commented on the imminent arrival of Paulo Fonseca, who was watching the game at the stadium, next to John Textor.
“As players, we are ready for it. Paulo Fonseca is a great coach who likes to play and attack. We are looking forward to starting with him and giving everything for him. We hope he will give everything for us too. We can’t wait until Sunday to win with him,” he said, also paying tribute to Pierre Sage, the Portuguese’s predecessor.

The former Milan coach will make his debut on the bench for the French side when they visit Marseille next Sunday, and the first home game is a week later against Reims , both in Ligue 1 .
