Coates’ Nacional wins Uruguayan Super Cup

Nacional, with Sebastián Coates in the starting line-up, won the Uruguayan Super Cup, beating Peñarol 2-1, at the Centenario Stadium, in Montevideo.

With the former Sporting captain on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes, Nacional took the lead through a penalty goal from Nicolás López in the 38th minute, and scored their second goal before half-time, via Jeremía Recoba (43′).

In the second half, Nacional kept up the pressure, however the Uruguayan champions managed to react, reducing the deficit in the 69th minute through Diego García (71′). Attempts to equalize followed, but they did not come, thanks to Nacional’s defensive organization, which celebrated.
