Conceição wants unity at Milan: “I’m not handsome or nice, but…”

After suffering his first defeat as Milan coach , against Juventus, Sérgio Conceição is already planning the Rossoneri’s next match, against Girona , for the UEFA Champions League , and has made a request to the Milan club’s fans.

“The fans have to understand that, beyond all the friendliness, Milan is Milan. Right now, we are here and they must be the 12th player, or rather, the first. Without them, the club does not exist. Tomorrow is very important because we are in a difficult moment, with injuries and suspensions. This is an appeal I make to people, I am not handsome or friendly, but I am here, it is important to unite with the differences and sympathies we may have”, said the Portuguese coach.

Regarding the team’s current situation, he said: “They are aware that there is work to be done, we have to believe in the tactical and technical work, understand what didn’t work. This is also emotional and mental work, I have to be the one to find the right attitude. I’ve had worse things happen to me in my career, I’ve had teams that didn’t enter the field well.”

Conceição, who avoided the subject when the topic was Kyle Walker, also spoke about Pulisic and Pavlovic: «Pulisic will stay with us at the training center, he will train with us tomorrow morning, but I don’t want to risk losing him for a month. He can also go to the bench. And it’s likely that he will stay there (…) Pavlovic is available. It’s not his fault that he didn’t get minutes with me, he always trained well, sometimes with incredible desire, he leaves his position and that doesn’t please me very much. I’m happy with him. Is he definitely a starter? I can also put a midfielder to play in defense. It would be a big surprise.»
