Liverpool manager Arne Slot has dismissed suggestions Darwin Núñez is losing confidence as the Uruguay international is linked with a move to Saudi Arabia
Uruguayan forward Darwin Núñez has only scored four goals this season – two in the Premier League , one in the UEFA Champions League and one in the League Cup. With these numbers, doubts are beginning to arise about a possible lack of confidence on the player’s part.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot, speaking at a press conference ahead of the Brentford game , dismissed the idea, saying: “For me, it’s the life of a striker, sometimes you score, sometimes you don’t. Darwin will score goals, as he has done. He was involved in the first goal against Accrington Stanley FC, he was involved in Fulham’s goal against Jota and he scored a goal against Southampton FC. After that, he hasn’t been a starter very often.”
It should be remembered that this scenario is repeated, after Darwin Núnez, after transferring to the Reds , stated that he felt a lack of confidence, which was reflected in the number of goals compared to his previous season, at Benfica .
Linked to a possible move to Saudi Arabia, Liverpool say they have not received any offers to date for the forward. Liverpool’s next match is scheduled for this Saturday when they travel to Brentford .
