Declan Rice and the victory over Tottenham: “We were unlucky… we could have scored 10”
Arsenal won the London derby 2-1, but the England midfielder admitted to being “disappointed” with the lack of a result
In the North London derby, Arsenal got the better of Tottenham 2-1, the Gunners’ second win over their rivals this season.
However, despite the triumph, Arsenal player Declan Rice admitted to being “disappointed” with the result, even going so far as to say that Mikel Arteta’s side were… unlucky: “You could tell that tonight meant more than any other. The first 45 minutes were pure dominance. We showed intention, pressure, desire… You could see it was a classic. To be honest, I think we were unlucky not to score 10 goals tonight. That’s the feeling.”
«In the second half, the game got bad, they could have scored two goals, but we could have scored five or six more. This is disappointing, but victory is the most important thing. Let’s hope that now we can get into a good series, because this is the most important part of the season”, said the England international, speaking to television station TNT.
The truth is that, with this victory, Arsenal returned to second place in the Premier League and got closer (conditionally) to the leader Liverpool , being four points behind the Reds, who have a game less.
