The Swedish Tax Authority received, this Tuesday, the inventory of Sven-Goran Eriksson’s assets, around five months after the death of the former Swedish coach, who managed Benfica twice in his career (1982-84 and 1989-92). ), victim of pancreatic cancer, aged 76.

According to the newspaper Goteborg-Posten , Eriksson’s assets and bank accounts totaled, at the time of his death, 66 million Swedish kronor, around 5.7 million euros, but the volume of debts (in England and Sweden) it was much larger, in the order of 118 million Swedish kronor, around 10 million euros. Therefore, the former coach’s family will not have the right to inheritance, revealed the family’s lawyer, Anders Runebjer. Much of Eriksson’s debts date back to 2007, when he was scammed out of 10 million euros by a businessman.

Months before his death, Eriksson admitted that he “had no idea” how much money he had, adding that it was never financial factors that moved him throughout his career. “I was born poor, I will probably die poor, but I lived a good life in between,” he told Expressen .

To cover around 4 million euros in debts in England and Sweden, the family recently put the former coach’s mansion on the edge of Lake Fryken, in Varmland, up for sale for 25 million Swedish kronor, approximately 2.18 million euros.
