Galatasaray concedes a draw against Hatayspor and could allow José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe to approach

This Friday, Galatasaray visited Hatayspor, second-to-last, to open the 20th round of the Turkish league, and, after five consecutive victories in the competition, lost two points (1-1).

The visitors started to win thanks to a goal from Sertel in the 28th minute, but in the second half, a (controversial) penalty converted by Victor Osimhen gave Fenerbahçe the equalizer in the fight for the national championship title in the 56th minute.

The visitors even managed to celebrate Yilmaz’s comeback goal, but it was eventually disallowed by VAR, due to offside, and they were unable to increase their lead at the top of the championship to 11 points, on condition.

However, the highlight is that controversial moment of the penalty kick, in which Mertens suffered an alleged foul by the scorer of the first goal of the match, which will certainly give José Mourinho more headaches.

The Portuguese coach has been quite critical of Turkish refereeing, especially in his team’s and Galatasaray ‘s games , having even published some moments on his social media to show his dissatisfaction with the situation.
