Haaland’s megalomaniac contract: €1M/week, €52M/year and €500M in 2034
Norwegian striker commits to Citizens until 2034, with one of the biggest contracts in football history

Manchester City announced this Friday the very long contract renewal with Erling Haaland and, according to The Athletic , spared no expense to ensure that the Norwegian would put his signature ‘in black and white’ until 2034. In addition to the termination clauses having been removed – they will only be valid from 2029 and for ‘prohibitive’ amounts – the Norwegian goalscorer saw his enormous importance to Pep Guardiola’s team recognised monetarily, as evidenced by the 111 goals in 126 games in the two and a half seasons he has spent in England.
The previous contract, which was valid until 2027, earned the Nordic player around 20 million euros per year and, now, his salary could more than double. The new base salary, according to The Athletic , is set at 35 million euros – at Real Madrid , Kylian Mbappé , for example, earns a base of €31 million per year – but this amount could increase exponentially, as the player achieves objectives (such as scoring goals), to 52 million per year.
All things considered, Haaland could pocket around €1.06 million per week and over €4 million at the end of each month. At the end of his contract in 2034, when the forward is 34 years old, he will have earned almost half a billion euros from the contract he signed today, which does not even include advertising fees. This contract is the biggest in the history of English football and one of the biggest ever in the international game.
