Kyle Walker talks about Rafael Leão and Sérgio Conceição: “It takes men who care”

The English full-back was presented as a Milan player on Monday

Kyle Walker is a Milan player on loan from Manchester City , with an option to buy at the end of the season. The experienced full-back has already made his first statements as a Milan player and even addressed Sergio Conceicao’s disagreement with Davide Calabria at the end of the game against Parma .

“On the pitch you need men who care, like Calabria and Conceição did. Episodes like this are good for everyone, it means we’re alive,” he said, denying rumours that his contract includes a bonus if Milan win the UEFA Champions League : “If we’re talking about a financial bonus, no, I don’t have one. I play football for passion, not for money. At City I didn’t play enough and that was one of the reasons I came here. I want to win trophies and play more.”

At 34, Walker also commented on his position in the squad, including looking at Rafael Leão ‘s potential : «I have to pass on my experience to the younger players, of course I can’t do it alone, but there are other leaders in the dressing room besides me. Leão has all the qualities to be the best in the world, but many other players are also strong.»

Finally, Walker, who has been a Milan fan “since I was a kid”, explained the “fantastic” feeling he has about wearing the Rossoneri jersey: “It’s a new experience outside of England, a good opportunity to showcase my talent. I know that things aren’t going well in Serie A, but they are in the Champions League, with a point on the last day we can go straight to the round of 16. I want this team to get back to where they should be in the league.”
