Manchester City loses against PSG and finds itself in a complicated situation in the Champions League

In a stunning game with six goals in the second half, PSG beat Manchester City 4-2 in a comeback match in the seventh round of the Champions League phase. The English team opened up a two-goal lead, five and eight minutes into the second half, with Grealish and Haaland respectively. Dembelé, Barcola, João Neves and Gonçalo Ramos scored the four goals in the home team’s comeback at the Parc des Princes.
THE GAME
PSG had control of possession in the first half. Despite this, there were two great chances for each side. De Bruyne and Savinho forced Donnarumma to make good saves. On the French side, Fabián Ruiz shot unmarked in the area and Gvardiol saved on the line. In the last play of the first half, Hakimi had a goal disallowed for offside by Nuno Mendes.
Early in the second half, Manchester City opened up a two-goal lead in two moves, with Grealish and Haaland. Soon after, Dembelé reduced the deficit and put PSG back in the game. And from then on, the home team was in full swing, creating at least six great chances to score. In the 14th minute, Barcola equalized. The comeback came in the 33rd minute, when João Neves took advantage of a good cross by Vitinha to head the ball in. Gonçalo Ramos, in the 48th minute, after a long VAR check, scored the fourth goal for Paris Saint-Germain.
CITY GETS COMPLICATED IN THE TABLE
With the defeat, Manchester City has eight points and drops to 25th place, leaving the qualifying zone for the round of 16 playoffs. In the last round, Pep Guardiola’s team hosts Club Brugge in need of a win. In the event of a draw, City will say goodbye to the 2024/25 Champions League. Paris Saint-Germain reaches 10 points and occupies 22nd place. The French team visits Stuttgart in the final round of the league phase.
