Paulo Sousa beats Artur Jorge and wins the UAE/Qatar Super Cup
Portuguese duel smiled at Al Ahli
Al Ahli, coached by Paulo Sousa, beat Al Rayyan, now coached by Artur Jorge, 3-1, and won one of the four finals of the Super Cup shared between the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Al Ahli took the lead through Yuri in the 28th minute, with the former Botafogo coach’s team’s goal coming from Renan, an own goal, in the 41st minute.
In the second half, Al Ahli were stronger and achieved victory with goals from Serdar Azmoun (52′) and Guilherme (90+7′), with Paulo Sousa securing Al Ahli’s second trophy. Al Nassr-Qatar and Al Sadd-Al Wasl are the other games in the Challenge Shield finals, contested by eight teams.
