Pressured to sell, Lyon agrees new exit from the squad
John Textor’s club’s moves in this January transfer window are unlikely to end there
This transfer market is crucial for Lyon to reduce their huge debt through player sales, and after the promising Gift Orban , Maxence Caqueret will be the next young player to leave the club.
According to RMC Sport , the 24-year-old midfielder is on his way to Italian side Como, coached by Cesc Fàbregas, in exchange for 15 million euros, plus another 2 million for objectives. The information was also confirmed by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. Caqueret has been little used by Lyon – 14 games, only four of which as a starter, this season – and they saw this as a good opportunity to earn some more money.
With a debt that, according to the French press, is estimated at 50 million euros, Lyon will have to raise 100 million by the end of the season to avoid relegation. As such, RMC reinforces that the club also plans to sell more players, such as Adryelson, Wilfried Zaha , Ernest Nuamah , Said Benrahma or Paul Akouokou .
