Romário and the possibilities of Brazil winning the 2026 World Cup: “Only with Neymar”
Former Brazilian footballer said that the Brazilian national team will only win the title if the team plays for the Al Hilal striker
Despite still being in the recovery process, after more than a year without stepping on the pitch, Neymar has all the hopes of the Brazilians placed in him, already thinking about the next World Cup , in 2026.
The player himself, now 32 years old, has already publicly revealed his goal of returning to the Brazilian national team and taking part in this competition, with the aim of winning it. However, Romário, who won the 1994 World Cup in the USA, commented on his country’s chances of becoming world champion again… only with the presence of the Al Hilal striker at 100%.
“It will be very difficult for Brazil to win the next World Cup. If there is any chance… it will be with Neymar . I will repeat what I said. In 1970, Brazil played for Pelé. Before that, they played for Garrincha (1962), then for Romário (1994) and in 2022 they played for Ronaldo,” he explained, asking Dorival Júnior to do the same for the former Barcelona , PSG and Santos player.
“In 2026, if you don’t play for Neymar , you won’t win. You have to build a team around him,” the Brazilian coach said, warning. Brazil is currently in fifth place in the qualifying phase for the final stage of the competition, seven points behind the leader, Argentina , and six more than Venezuela, who are in first place below the qualifying zone, with six rounds to go.
