Ronaldo at the World Cup? “I’m almost certain he’ll be there”
Bruno Fernandes has no doubts about the presence of the national team captain

Bruno Fernandes , Manchester United ‘s Portuguese international , has no doubts that the 2026 World Cup will feature the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo , who will be 40 years old at the time.
“I don’t believe it, I’m almost certain he’ll be there. It would be great if Cristiano Ronaldo, by going to the World Cup, fulfilled his dream of winning the World Cup with the national team. Not only for him, but for us Portuguese people, who really want to give that to our country,” he said in statements to TNT Sports, after the Red Devils’ victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup.
“As the ultimate reference in our football, the national team would probably be the best way for him to finish. Even if he won the World Cup, I don’t know if he would like to stop or go a little further, because he always wants to improve,” noted the 30-year-old player.
“There are always things to improve and learn. You can see that in Cristiano, who wants to do more every year, wants to do better — and for those who still have doubts, he can do more and more. For us, the most important thing is to get to the World Cup and do it in the best way possible and then triumph. It’s everyone’s dream, I know that for all Cristiano Ronaldo fans and for our country it would be a huge thing to end his time in the national team, with the two most important trophies. Portugal has never won a World Cup, it had never won the European Championship and it did it with him [in 2016]. Now winning the World Cup would not be a one or two day celebration, but a week of celebration in Portugal,” he added.
