‘War’ of words in Madrid continues: “When they were at other clubs, they thought differently…”
Diego Simeone has responded to comments from Dani Ceballos and Carlo Ancelotti, recalling the times when they were not representing Real Madrid

Real and Atlético Madrid are in a fierce battle for first place in LaLiga and the duel continues to heat up off the pitch.
It all started when Diego Simeone did not seem surprised by Celta de Vigo ‘s criticism of the refereeing in the match against Real Madrid, stating that they were «episodes from the last hundred years».
Carlo Ancelotti responded by saying his team must be a “thorn in the side” for the Argentine, and Dani Ceballos added, even saying that Simeone has yet to get over the two UEFA Champions League finals he lost to Real in 2014 and 2016.
In his own style, during the press conference ahead of the clash against Bayer Leverkusen , Simeone did not leave the coach and the Real Madrid midfielder without an answer: “I never give my opinion on what my colleagues say, I simply refer to my memory. When they were at other clubs, they thought differently,” he said, recalling Ancelotti’s statements about the refereeing of a match against Real Madrid , when he was in charge of Bayern Munich. The match in question dates back to the second leg of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the 2016/2017 season, which ended in a 4-2 victory for the Madrid team.
Diego Simeone has not forgotten Ceballos either: “When I was at Betis I thought differently. Now he is doing very well,” he retorted.
In the preview of the match against Leverkusen, the Argentine coach highlighted that Atlético’s objective is to reach the UEFA Champions League final and win it for the first time.
