Al-Khelaifi told Textor to shut up: “You are a cowboy from who knows where…”
Newspaper ‘L’Équipe’ revealed audio of a discussion that took place in July 2024

An audio shared this Wednesday by the newspaper L’Équipe reveals a discussion between Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG , and John Textor, owner of Lyon , during a meeting of presidents of Ligue 1 clubs held in July 2024 that aimed to address television rights.
«John, shut up, you don’t understand anything. You are a cowboy who came from I don’t know where to talk to us,” insulted the leader of the Parisians.
Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot also interrupted Textor when the American was discussing Lyon’s business structure: “Honestly, we are short on time.”
The businessman who also runs Botafogo argued that everyone should have a say, and not just the director of the club from the French capital, against whom he then attacked : «Nasser [Al-Khelaifi], you are a tyrant.»
Textor’s intervention prompted the Qatari to leave the meeting. “John, John, John… Shut up, you don’t understand anything. I’m going to get off this call, he’s making me so angry. I swear, I’m wasting my time. I’m going to leave the meeting, he doesn’t understand anything…”, he said.
Lens president Joseph Oughourlian accused the PSG owner of a conflict of interest, given that he also owns the BeIN Sports TV network, which holds the TV rights to Ligue 1: “Nasser, I think you should respect the other presidents on this issue.”
The PSG leader disagreed and replied: «You are intelligent and a businessman, but you don’t understand anything about the media .»
