Amorim and injuries: “We had to change our strategy every day”

Ruben Amorim lamented another defeat in charge of Manchester United (the third in the last four Premier League games ), against Tottenham , especially due to the chances his players wasted.

«We had opportunities to score, Tottenham did, we didn’t and the difference in the end is because of that. In the second half we tried, we suffered some transitions, we created some chances, the game was divided, but that was the difference”, he began by telling DAZN .

Several players in the Manchester squad, including Manuel Ugarte and Amad Diallo , have picked up injuries in the last week, which has ended up hampering the Portuguese coach’s plans: “We had to change the strategy every day because we were losing players. We’ve been asking for a week to train for so long and then the players get injured on their own… it happens to all coaches, you just have to move on.»

As a result, Amorim only made one substitution against Tottenham, in the 90th minute, when he took off Casemiro to bring on Chido Obi-Martin, a 17-year-old forward.

— I only made changes at that time because I felt we were close to scoring, we were dividing the game and I had to be a little careful, the kids didn’t have much time to train. I felt that the team, even with some tired players, could score at any moment,” he explained.
