Ancelotti compares Modric to another great player he coached
Croatian is a reference of longevity, just like Maldini
What do Modric and Maldini have in common? Both have achieved great longevity, maintaining an elite level and having Carlo Ancelotti as their coach. The current Real Madrid coach has no doubts: both are comparable in what the «behaviour of footballers» should be.
“They are two fantastic examples. It is no coincidence that they have both reached 40 years of age [Modric is 39, he will turn 40 in September] . Genetics matter, but so does commitment and attitude,” explained Ancelotti, after the Whites’ victory over Girona at the Bernabéu in La Liga .
A game marked by the Croatian’s great performance and a great goal, further fuelling the issue of a contract renewal, requested by many fans and which has another defender in the Italian: « Modric is a gift for football, for his seriousness, quality and professionalism. He should continue playing for as long as he wants. What he does, he does very well. We are lucky to have a legend with us.»
