Antony wants to leave Man. United permanently: “I went through difficult times”

Antony failed to convince Ruben Amorim at Manchester United and was therefore loaned to Betis until the end of the season, with no option to buy, at the end of the winter transfer window. His debut in LaLiga went well, despite not scoring or assisting, and he was voted man of the match.

Meanwhile, the winger has already spoken about having accepted this new adventure and revealed that there were other clubs interested in him, but that he chose to head to Spain, in an interview with ABC Sevilha : «I had offers, but when Betis appeared, my wife and I spoke and I felt a certainty in my heart that made me feel calm. I am very happy to be here and I hope to achieve many goals here.»

Having cost Man. United around €100m, Antony has not lived up to expectations, but he hopes to show improvement in the coming months after a great period at Ajax: «What I want is to recover my best version, it’s the first step to being happy and content. It’s been incredible here, with the whole club, the city, everything. Me and my family are happy. Now I have to work every day to be at my best and help the team.»

Finally, he himself recalled these last two and a half years in England, in which he was often not an option, neither for Ten Hag nor for Ruben Amorim, and revealed that he wants to leave permanently: «I went through difficult times, but we have to respect the process. I went through things that are unpleasant, to stay longer I will have to talk to the president, but I am making the most of each day to help with goals and assists. I want to help the team, the coach, and later we will make a decision.»
