Aston Villa eliminated Tottenham from the FA Cup
Aston Villa secured their place in the FA Cup round of 16 this Sunday with a 2-1 home win over Tottenham.
The first goal of the game came after just two minutes, scored by Jacob Ramsey. In the second half, the team coached by Unai Emery extended their lead to 2-0, with a goal from Morgan Rogers in the 65th minute. Tottenham reduced the deficit to 2-1 through Mathys Tel (90+1m), a recent addition to the team, who made his second appearance for Tottenham this Sunday, his first as a starter.
With this result, the team coached by Ange Postecoglou is out of the running for two cups in four days: on Thursday, they were eliminated in the semi-finals of the English League Cup by Liverpool .
The game was also marked by the debut of winger Marcus Rashford for Aston Villa. The English international, on loan from Manchester United, came on in the 67th minute of the game.
Also on Sunday, Plymouth Argyle caused the biggest surprise of the competition so far, by eliminating Liverpool . In the other game played on this day, Wolverhampton, coached by Portuguese Vítor Pereira, beat Blackburn Rovers .
