THE GAME
The game started off hotly. Just four minutes in, Cole Palmer took advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper Verbruggen to open the scoring with a shot from the sidelines. It didn’t take long for Brighton to respond. In the 11th minute, Rutter equalized the game with a header. After that, the first half remained evenly balanced, but without goals.
The comeback came 11 minutes into the second half. Pressuring Chelsea, Brighton scored through Mitoma to take the lead. The home team closed ranks and managed to nullify the visitors’ attacks to advance in the FA Cup.
