‘Captain’ Vinícius Jr. declares his commitment to Real Madrid: “I want to make history at this club”
The Brazilian wore the captain’s armband for the ‘merengues’ for the first time in the match against Real Sociedad and did not hide his pride

Vinícius Júnior will certainly never forget the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Sociedad . In the game on 26 February, the Brazilian winger wore the Real Madrid captain’s armband for the first time .
“It’s something very special to be able to play here for so long and, at 24 years old, to play my first game as captain. It’s very special for me and my family, after everything we’ve been through to get here,” he explained to RealMadrid TV .
“It’s something different because you never imagined it would happen to you. And I’m happy to be able to play in a Cup semi-final as captain of the best club in the world. I’m living it. It’s something I never imagined,” continued the Brazilian, who will reach a special milestone in Madrid’s next game: “In the next game I’ll reach 300 games, but I want to reach 400 and 500 and make history for this club.”
Vinícius Júnior arrived in the Spanish capital in 2018, at the time, aged 18. Almost seven years later, the winger has played 299 games for the Whites, winning several titles, including two UEFA Champions Leagues , three LaLiga titles and two Club World Cups.
