Chelsea , with Pedro Neto starting, suffered a heavy defeat (0-3) against Brighton , away from home, in the 25th round of the Premier League .
The Seagulls took the lead in the 27th minute, with a goal from Mitoma , assisted by the goalkeeper. Verbruggen found the Japanese with a great pass, who controlled the ball with class and shot to score.
Brighton doubled their lead in the 38th minute after a confusing move in the Chelsea box. Jorgensen saved the first ball , but Yankuba Minteh calmly beat Cucurella and scored.
In the second half, Yankuba Minteh scored his second goal in the 63rd minute. The 20-year-old forward combined with Welbeck , got past Cucurella and shot into the back of the net. The ball took a small deflection off Chalobah before going in.
Chelsea , who lost to Brighton a few days ago in the FA Cup , remain on 43 points and could be overtaken by Manchester City or Newcastle , who face each other in this round. Brighton are eighth with 37 points .
