Chelsea thrash Southampton and return to fourth place in the Premier League

Chelsea returned to winning ways this season, after three consecutive defeats. They won 4-0 against bottom-placed Southampton at Stamford Bridge in a match valid for the 27th round of the 2024/25 Premier League . The highlight was striker Nkunku, who opened the scoring in the 24th minute of the first half and provided the assist for Pedro Neto’s goal in the 36th minute. Defender Colwill scored the third, near the end of the first half, and left-back Cucurella closed the account in the 32nd minute of the second half. With this result, Chelsea reached 46 points and regained fourth place in the English Championship table . Now we can hope for poor results from Manchester City and Newcastle (both with 44), who play this Wednesday against Tottenham and Liverpool, respectively.
