Congo and Pakistan federations suspended by FIFA
The measure was announced this Thursday by the body chaired by Gianni Infantino and has immediate effects.

FIFA suspended the Congolese and Pakistani federations on Thursday , with teams from both countries banned from participating in international football competitions.
In the case of Congo, FIFA explained in a statement that the federation is suspended “with immediate effect” due to “a particularly serious problem of external interference”, in an allusion to the creation, by the Minister of Sports, Hugues Ngouélondélé, of an ad hoc committee to manage the organization.
The lifting of Fécofoot’s suspension follows criteria such as the “return” of control of the federation’s headquarters or bank accounts.
The Congolese team, which is fifth and last in Group F, was due to play two qualifying games for the 2026 World Cup in March, against Tanzania and Zambia .
Pakistan has been suspended for not having yet revised its electoral statutes and will only have the sanction lifted when the federation congress approves the constitution presented by FIFA and the Asian football confederation.
