Italians reveal Milan’s options to buy João Félix

João Félix has been the focus of attention in this transfer market by joining Milan on loan from Chelsea , and he confirmed the best expectations in his first game for the Rossoneri , with a goal in the victory over Roma that secured passage to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. And the future of the Portuguese striker is already causing controversy in Italy.

Milan director Geoffrey Moncada confirmed that acquiring the player permanently is “a possibility”, given the “good relations” with Chelsea, although the loan agreement, valid until the end of the season, does not include a purchase option. How could the deal come to fruition? The Italian press has put forward some scenarios this Friday.

According to Calciomercato , one of the options is to buy the player’s pass for around 41.6 million euros – Chelsea signed him for six seasons in exchange for 52 million euros, that is, 8.14 million euros/year, so, following the UEFA regulations that impose a amortization quota to be calculated in 5 years, the payment of €41.6 M on June 30th of this year would avoid capital loss. Including other players in the deal would not be ruled out, with Tomori and Rafael Leão appearing among the options.

The second strategy would involve renewing the loan for another season, but this time with a mandatory purchase clause that could be negotiated at around 31.2 million euros (a value that would prevent the Stamford Bridge club from losing capital, in this case in June 2026).

The same publication highlights that a solution can be found, since these are “friendly clubs”, however another issue could act as an obstacle: the player’s salary. The income earned in London is higher than the salary limit for the Italian team’s squad, which will require talks.
