Man United overcomes expulsion and beats Ipswich in the Premier League

Bye-bye, bad times!

United struggled to beat Ipswich 3-2 at home in the 27th round of the Premier League. The home side fell behind after a mistake by Dorgu, saw the full-back sent off in the first half and even with ten men down managed to score a header from Maguire in the second half to win. Morsy (own goal) and De Ligt scored the other goals for United. Philogene scored the goals for the visitors.

Character of the game

Dorgu had a performance to forget. The United left-back gave away a goal after just 3 minutes of play, when he passed the ball incorrectly to Onana. Then, in the 42nd minute, when United had already turned the game around, he was sent off for an unfair challenge on Hutchinson.

The game

United had a good first half, with a lot of play and chances created. However, they were seriously hampered by Dorgu’s performance. The United left-back gave Philogene a goal on a silver platter early on when he incorrectly passed the ball to Onana. After that, United reacted and turned the game around, with an own goal by Morsy and a goal by De Ligt. Both chances came from set pieces by Bruno Fernandes into the box. The home side seemed to be in control of the game, but Dorgu was sent off at the end for an unfair challenge, leaving the team with ten men. To make matters worse, in injury time Philogene crossed into the box, the ball went past everyone and Onana accepted: 2-2.
Even with one less player, United came back with an attacking stance in the second half and imposed themselves. In the 2nd minute, Bruno Fernandes once again appeared in a set piece. He took a corner kick that was headed by Maguire. The defender rose through several defenders and scored for United. After that, the home team closed up well and managed to keep the ball in the attacking half, preventing Ipswich from creating any chances.

Invader

A rat was spotted on the Old Trafford pitch, close to the touchline. It is worth remembering that in December 2024 there was a rat infestation at the Manchester United stadium.
