Market: Deco is already negotiating De Jong for England
Liverpool interested in Dutchman

Barcelona sporting director Deco has already begun preliminary talks with Liverpool representatives regarding a potential summer transfer for Frenkie de Jong . According to Catalan outlet El Nacional, after years of speculation over his future, the Blaugrana outfit are now willing to part ways with the midfielder, whose contract expires in the summer of 2026. The Dutchman himself is also much more open to a move, having recently admitted his disappointment with the limited number of trophies he has won so far with Barcelona .
In 2022, De Jong was close to a move to Manchester United , with an agreement reached between the clubs, but the midfielder refused to leave. Now, however, he is closer to a move to United’s great rivals – Liverpool .
According to El Nacional, Deco will ask for around 40 million euros for De Jong , who is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia. A few days ago, reports emerged that Liverpool would be willing to offer around 35 million.
Last summer Liverpool were ready to pay Real Sociedad ‘s Martín Zubimendi ‘s €60m release clause , but the Spanish international then refused to leave his home club.
