THE GAME
Even playing away from home, Real Madrid started the game by putting pressure on Osasuna. Just two minutes in, Mbappé received a pass on the left side and, in front of two defenders, lifted the ball into the box. Vini Jr. appeared alone, but headed it wide. In the ninth minute, Mbappé invaded the box from the left side of the attack, shot low, and goalkeeper Herrera cleared it with his foot. But in the 14th minute, after a low cross from Valverde on the right side, Mbappé got in front of the Osasuna defender and shot towards goal to open the scoring. Osasuna had more even possession and scared Real. After a ball was lifted into the box, Camavinga tried to clear it, but the ball fell to Oroz, who shot and sent it over the goal. Ancelotti’s team also ended up losing Bellingham in the 39th minute, after the player complained to the referee.
With Real Madrid down to ten men, Osasuna started the second half pressing. At nine, Zaragoza crossed into the box, Moncayola touched the ball, and Courtois made a great save. Budimir challenged Camavinga, and with a touch the ball went out. The referee went to review the play using VAR and ended up awarding a penalty to Camavinga on Budimir. Budimir himself took the penalty and made it all even. Carlo Ancelotti’s team still had chances with Mbappé and Vini Jr. on a few occasions. However, the score was not changed: 1 x 1.
