Guillermo Cuadra Fernández, referee of the Spanish league match between Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao, was forced to interrupt the match in the 17th minute due to racist insults coming from the stands, which were aimed at Athletic Bilbao forward Maroan Sannadi.

The match referee activated the protocol provided for by La Liga, and a message was displayed on the screens at the RCDE Stadium warning of the legal consequences of racist insults.
