Tottenham beats Manchester United and advances in the Premier League
Spurs score through Maddison to leapfrog United in first Premier League home win of 2025
TOTTENHAM VICTORY
James Maddison scored in the first half to give Tottenham a 1-0 win over Manchester United. On Sunday, the London team won at home in the 25th round and overtook their rivals, who are also fighting at the bottom of the table.
THE GAME
In a clash between two teams that were struggling, Tottenham started the game better. In the 13th minute, James Maddison was quicker than Manchester United’s defense and took advantage of Bergvall’s rebound to score the home team’s first goal of the game. United chased the ball and even had chances to equalize, but the score remained 1-0 to Spurs until half-time.
The chances continued to fall to the uncreative and very predictable Manchester United team. In the second half, Garnacho and Hojlund had shots that goalkeeper Vicario saved. Zirkzee even missed an attempt on a volley, and Ruben Amorim’s team saw another defeat. Tottenham, ahead on the scoreboard, managed the result and counted on a weak and battered opponent to secure a 1-0 victory.
