Transfer Market: Neuer renews with Bayern… one month before turning 39
The German goalkeeper’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but the Bavarian club made him an offer for another year
A month and a half before turning 39, Manuel Neuer has renewed his contract with Bayern , which was due to end at the end of the season , for another year. He will therefore remain in Munich until June 2026.
The Bavarians announced the renewal on Monday, meaning the goalkeeper will now be in his 15th season with the club. This season, he has played in 26 games and conceded just 23 goals, keeping clean sheets in 14 of those matches.
He himself has already spoken to the club’s channels and explained the decision to extend his contract, at the time he gave up playing for the national team: «I really enjoy playing football and I want to continue being a Bayern player . I’m still hungry and I’m looking forward to another year at this special club. We’ve always had good conversations. It’s a good feeling. I feel good and we still have many goals to achieve together.»
Christoph Freund, sporting director of the Bundesliga leaders , also commented on the renewal: « Manuel Neuer has been setting the bar for goalkeepers for more than a decade. He is our captain, a great figure at Bayern , and the team knows they can always count on him. We are delighted that we can also pursue our goals next season with him.»
