Transfer Market: Vitor Pereira’s outcast leaves Wolverhampton
Mario Lemina was one of the team captains, but he did not please the Portuguese coach with his lack of commitment and not even an apology resolved the issue.

It’s official: after two absences from the Wolverhampton first team , Mario Lemina has left the team for good and signed for Galatasaray , the club that paid 2.5 million euros for his signing. The midfielder signed a one-and-a-half-year contract, with an option for another year.
Vítor Pereira had removed Lemina from the team when he asked not to participate in a Wolverhampton game, aiming for a move to another club.
The player then apologized, which seemed to calm the situation, but Pereira was intransigent and after removing Lemina from the squad again, reconciliation between the parties became impossible. «For me, he is out [of the team ] until the end of the market. When the market closes, I’ll see if he’s my player. If so, it will be a problem for me to solve, because he is a good player; or leave and it’s not my problem. I don’t want a player with doubts,” said the Portuguese coach at the time.
Lemina was in his third season at Wolves and had already earned the status of team captain. In 2023/24, he was even voted the club’s best player by his fans.
Now, he has decided to return to a club he had already represented in the 2019/20 season and will compete with José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe for the title of Turkish League champion.
