Bayern lose to Bochum but maintain 8-point gap to Leverkusen in Bundesliga

Bayern Munich suffered a 3-2 comeback to Bochum this Saturday at the Allianz Arena in the 25th round of the German Championship. The match was marked by a first half dominated by the Bavarian team, who opened up a 2-0 lead but ended up losing the game after Palhinha was sent off. Despite the defeat, Vincent Kompany’s team maintained an eight-point lead over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, who were also surprised.

Bayer Leverkusen suffered their second defeat in the Bundesliga, after being defeated 2-0 by Werder Bremen. With this, Bayern remain in the lead, with 61 points, while Xabi Alonso’s men remain on 53. Bochum, despite the victory, remain in the relegation zone, with 20, while Werder Bremen, with the victory, reached 33 points and remains in the middle of the table.

The game seemed easy for Bayern Munich, who were already winning 2-0 after 28 minutes, with two goals from Guerreiro. However, the team wasted a great chance to extend their lead when Gnabry missed a penalty. From then on, Bochum started to react.

In the 31st minute, Medic reduced the deficit and Bayern later suffered an even bigger blow with Palhinha’s sending off, leaving the team with one less player for the rest of the match.

With the numerical advantage, Bochum wasted no time and, in the second half, tied the game with Sissoko after just 12 minutes. To make matters worse for Bayern, Beto turned the game around for the visitors in the 26th minute, completing the comeback. Despite Bayern’s attempts, with Harry Kane and other players trying to react, the team was unable to avoid defeat.

Leverkusen also had a tough Saturday. At home, they were defeated by Werder Bremen 2-0, with goals from Schmid and Njinmah. The defeat was even more painful for Xabi Alonso’s team, who had the opportunity to close the gap to Bayern.

At the bottom of the table, Borussia Dortmund, who are in 10th place, also suffered a setback. They lost 1-0 to Augsburg, who are in 11th place. Wolfsburg drew 1-1 with St. Pauli, who are in 15th place, while Kiel, in 19th place, drew 2-2 with Stuttgart, who are in 8th place.
