Bosnia in shock: fan beaten with metal bars by rivals is in a coma
The rivalry between Zrinjski Mostar and Velez has gone too far. 26-year-old fan hospitalized in critical condition

Bosnia and Herzegovina is in shock after a group of Velez fans brutally attacked a Zrinjski Mostar fan just hours before the Bosnian football derby last Saturday. On Friday night, the Hercegovina.info website revealed, a 26-year-old fan was beaten by four rival fans with metal bars, in yet another episode of the rivalry taken to the extreme in that country.
The crime took place on a quiet street in Mostar and the fan’s neighbors immediately called the police, who found the young man in a very serious condition, unconscious, completely bloodied and handcuffed.
The Zrinjski fan was immediately taken to hospital and is in life-threatening condition with serious brain injuries. In a statement, the Bosnian Interior Ministry added that the scientific police were called to the scene to collect evidence of the crime, after the police also saw the four suspects, all of them masked, fleeing at high speed in a gray Audi.
For security reasons, given the history of such episodes, in games between Zrinjski and Velez, the presence of fans of the visiting team in the stadium is prohibited.
