Dybala dropped from international duty due to knee injury

Returning to Lionel Scaloni’s squad, Paulo Dybala will not be able to represent Argentina in this double qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup , against Uruguay and Brazil .

The Argentine was injured in his last match for Roma , who beat Cagliari 1-0 on Sunday, and was therefore dropped from the squad. The striker came on in the 64th minute but ended up leaving the field 10 minutes later with physical complaints.

According to Diário Olé , the 31-year-old player has an injury to his left knee, but the severity is not yet known, pending the results of the medical examinations, carried out in the Italian capital. However, one thing is for sure, he will not be able to play during this international break.

Since winning the 2022 World Cup, Dybala has only played in two stages: March 2023, in which he totaled 53 minutes in two friendlies, and in September 2024, in which he was on the field for just 16 minutes in the opening rounds of the qualifying phase for the 2026 World Cup.

In between, he missed several call-ups due to injury and others by choice, such as the final phase of the 2024 Copa América, won by the Argentines.
