Lyon defeats FCSB and advances in the Europa League
In Paulo Fonseca ‘s return to the Lyon bench , the French club beat Steaua Bucharest ( 4-0 ) and secured their passage to the next phase, where they will face Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Europa League .
After recovering the ball in the middle of the field, Rayan Cherki passed the ball to Mikautadze , who got away from the opposing defense and scored the first goal of the game, in the 14th minute. The first half was always controlled by the Gones, who scored the second goal, after the Georgian assisted Nuamah who finished in the middle of the penalty area.
Then at half-time, Paulo Fonseca’s men started on the attack and Mikautadze scored twice in the match. In the 88th minute, the Ghanaian midfielder scored his second goal of the match, after a great understanding with the Lyon striker. Until the end of the game, the Romanian team was unable to impose itself and finished the game without scoring any goals.
Lyon’s next European challenge will be against Ruben Amorim’s team, who eliminated Real Sociedad after a home win ( 4-1 ).
