Southampton withdraws from Premier League: “We will be relegated”
Saints manager Ivan Juric has admitted that it is no longer possible to continue in the top flight of English football after the defeat against Wolves, led by Vítor Pereira.

Last Saturday, Southampton suffered their sixth consecutive defeat, their fifth in the Premier League , and right against Wolverhampton (1-2), led by Vítor Pereira, a rival in the fight against relegation.
Because of this defeat, the bottom of the English league is now 15 points away from salvation, with just 9 in 29 matches: two wins ( Everton and Ipswich ), three draws ( Fulham , Brighton and Ipswich) and 24 defeats!
After the meeting, Ivan Juric, who was hired to replace Russell Martin in December last year, admitted that there is no longer any hope of continuing in the top flight of English football, but he showed himself focused on giving fans a different image in the final stretch of the season.
“We are going to be relegated, it is clear now. We want to be demoted with more determination, more dignity. Even in this match, we showed that we are not ready to score points. There’s always something missing. The desire to play well and attack is there. The boys want to win and do their best. There are times when we are not good enough, and that is all,” he explained.
Southampton are at risk of being the worst team in Premier League history , needing a win, or three draws, in 9 rounds, to avoid being the owner of that very negative record, which still belongs to Derby County , from 2007/2008 (11 points).
However, relegation is not yet mathematically guaranteed: there are 27 points at stake and Wolverhampton , the first team above the relegation zone, have 26 more. The Saints ‘ next opponent is Crystal Palace , at home, after the international break.
