The London team needed to win by two goals to advance to the quarter-finals after the 1-0 defeat in the first leg, in the Netherlands. Wilson Odobert, twice, and James Maddison led the victory at the Hotspur Stadium, in London. On the other hand, Peer Koopmeiners scored for the visitors.

Tottenham vs AZ Alkmaar

Tottenham managed to impose themselves in the first half and took the lead 1-0 into the break, with a goal scored by Odobert.

In the second half, Tottenham needed just two minutes to extend their lead. After recovering the ball in midfield, the team formed a good triangle and Maddison finished in the area to score the London team’s second goal of the game.

AZ’s response came after a mistake by Tottenham’s defense, which ended up compromising the result. This was because Bergvall, who had already scored an own goal in the first leg, misplaced a pass and the ball fell free for Koopmeiners to reduce the deficit.

However, Tottenham made another great collective play and Odobert scored the second of the match to confirm the London team’s qualification.
