DECISION WAS UP TO GERMANY
Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt drew 1-1 on Thursday in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals. At the Hotspur Stadium, Ekitiké opened the scoring for the visitors, and Pedro Porro made it all even in the first half. The star of the match was Kauã Santos , the former Flamengo goalkeeper who shone in stopping Tottenham’s attacks. The match also marked Richarlison ‘s return to the field, after more than two months out due to injury. The return leg will be at Frankfurt’s home next Thursday at 4 pm (Brasília time).
THE RETURN OF THE PIGEON
Richarlison came on as a substitute in the final stretch of the match against Frankfurt and was once again used by Tottenham. The Brazilian forward was out of action for over two months after suffering a muscle problem in the English League Cup semi-final against Liverpool on February 6. The number 9 was also out from last November until January of this year due to a left hamstring injury.
SHINE KAUÃ SANTOS
The game started lively in London. Ekitiké scored for Frankfurt with a shot from outside the box in the sixth minute after Maddison lost possession in midfield. Tottenham managed to equalise in the first half with a beautiful goal from Pedro Porro. Son crossed into the box, Maddison got to the left and passed it to the full-back who flicked it into the back of the net.
The home side came back stronger after the break, but were thwarted by great saves from Kauã Santos. The former Flamengo player stopped four great shots on goal, including a beautiful shot from Son.
