Hollywood dream continues: Wrexham close to making history

Wrexham are on the verge of making history in England. The club of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who have owned the team since 2021, have regained second place in League One and are once again in their own hands to move up to the Championship.

If that happens, it would be their third consecutive promotion, having been in the fifth tier of English football for two years. With just two games remaining, they are two points clear of Wycombe , who lost 0-4 to fourth-placed Charlton on Monday.

Meanwhile, Wrexham won 2-1 at 10th-placed Blackpool thanks to goals from McClean (61′) and Rathbone (64′), with the consolation goal coming in added time from Apter (90+5′). Their next opponents are Charlton at home, followed by 11th-placed Lincoln away, with Birmingham already celebrating their title triumph.

Rob McElhenney was at the stadium watching the match alongside the rest of the Wrexham fans in the away stand.
