Messi makes history at Inter Miami

A precise strike from Lionel Messi did not prevent Inter Miami from losing to Toronto, meaning they lost the lead in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS) , but it did allow the Argentine to make history at the club.

The 37-year-old forward becomes the player who has contributed the most goals to the team, 44, between goals and assists, in 29 games in the MLS, surpassing the record of Gonzalo Higuaín (43 in 67 games between 2020 and 2022).

The Argentine national team captain’s achievement is further enhanced by the fact that he dethroned his compatriot needing 38 fewer matches.

This season, Messi has scored six goals and provided two assists in eight games for Inter Miami in all competitions.
