PSG beats Angers and becomes French champion without losing a game
Team stands alone as the biggest winner of the French league; Marquinhos becomes the player with the most titles in the French league
1. Paris Saint-Germain won the 2024/25 Ligue 1 title on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Angers . PSG secured the trophy with six rounds to spare. If the Paris team does not lose in the remaining matches, it will be the first time in the history of the French Championship that a team will have been champion undefeated. PSG have 74 points, with 23 wins and five draws
This Saturday, at home, PSG even allowed themselves the luxury of leaving some starters on the bench, such as Dembélé, the team’s main player this season. After a lukewarm first half, the home team opened the scoring in the 9th minute of the second half. Désiré Doué received a cross at the far post and hit it first time, high up, scoring a beautiful goal.
Founded in 1970, PSG had won just two of their 13 trophies before Qatar Sports Investments , a Qatar-based sports management fund, took over the club in June 2011. The previous two triumphs were in 1985/86 and 1993/94. The only two teams to have managed to break PSG’s dominance in recent years were Monaco in 2016/17 and Lille in 2020/21.
